New member – SGiPM

We welcome a new member of SPCleantech, the Association of Municipalities and Districts of Małopolska (SGiPM) with whom the cluster has been cooperating for a long time, jointly implementing many workshops, trainings, conferences and webinars for communes and poviats from all over Poland.

The Association of Małopolska Municipalities and Districts is the largest Polish regional self-government organization. It was founded in 1991 on the initiative of Kazimierz Barczyk, then the Chairman of the Council of the Royal Capital City of Krakow. It currently associates over 100 communes and districts from the area of historical Lesser Poland (Malopolska).

The Association of Małopolska Municipalities and Districts (SGiPM) is a self-government organization that brings together communes and poviats in the Małopolskie Voivodship that cooperate in order to pursue their common interests and tasks. SGiPM was established in order to strengthen the role of local governments in the region, represent their interests and conduct joint activities for the development of Małopolska.

The main goals of the Association of Municipalities and Districts of Małopolska are:

  • Supporting and representing the interests of local governments at the level of the Małopolskie Voivodeship.
  • Creating conditions for effective cooperation between communes and poviats, exchange of experience and coordination of activities for the development of the region.
  • Implementation of joint ventures, projects and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of Małopolska.
  • Taking actions to promote the region, both in the country and abroad, in order to attract investors, tourists and business partners.

The Association of Municipalities and Districts of Małopolska acts as a forum for the exchange of information and experience between local governments, supports them in the implementation of their tasks, undertakes activities for the development of infrastructure, environmental protection, education, tourism, culture and other areas important for the development of the region.

SGiPM is also involved in legislative processes, undertakes lobbying activities for local governments and represents their interests towards central authorities. The organization plays an important role in strengthening local self-government, supporting cooperation between communes and poviats, and promoting the Małopolska region.
