Date: Wednesday, 29.11.2017 at 18.00 - ??
Location: NordicHouse, ul. św. Anny 5, Krakow

During the activity of most startups there is a moment in which the so-called bootstrapping, development based on your own financial resources becomes no longer sufficient to effectively grow your business. There is a need for external financing. The type of funding often chosen by start-ups is cooperation with one of the venture capital funds (VC). The undoubted advantages of this type of financing are primarily the development of start-ups without debt, and the ability to use the knowledge and business experience of the VC's representatives. The most serious disadvantage is partial loss of startup control. You will learn about the pros and cons of working with VC funds during our next networking meeting.

SPCleantech as Pre-Accelerator Point for Polish start-ups organized on 18.04.2016 the first workshop of the series of 6 workshops and 2 conferences. The aim of the workshop was to provide experiences of Polish and Scandinavian mentors to Polish start-ups and coaches. SPCleantech is working with a group of experienced mentors from Denmark, Finland and Sweden.

The main theme for the workshop was “Business models and Start-up strategy”. During the workshop, the young start-ups and innovators learned what is needed to create a company. Especially in the early stage of the business it is important to understand what it means to be an entrepreneur and to benefit from the experience and advice of experienced mentors, both Polish and Scandinavian about some of the obstacles, which they will have to face in the future.

Mentors focused on helping participants to accurately identify what is the problem and develop a solution. This is one of the most important steps for all first-time entrepreneurs. During the workshop mentors not only communicated to potential entrepreneurs all kinds of technical skills, but also strengthened their entrepreneurial mindset.

Contact with experienced mentors and inspiring entrepreneurs from Poland and Scandinavia will help participants in the creation of new companies, which will become part of the ecosystem and benefit the local economy. Everyone knows the differences in the local ecosystem, when community of start-ups is part of this system and cooperate with it.

Special guests during the workshop were Rafał Szczepanik (PL) and Peter Nilsson (S).
