Janusz Kahl, CEO in South Poland Cleantech Cluster has been chosen by the European Commission as member of the Steering Committee for the project

„Skills for smart industrial specialization and digital transformation (SIS&DT)”

for Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) acting under the powers delegated by the European Commission EASME / DG GROW, which has been granted to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Luxembourg.

EASME is the largest EU agency managing, among others, EU funds from the HORIZON 2020, COSME, LIFE and ERASMUS+ programs.

The main goal of the task is to work out:

EU 2030 Common Vision on High-tech skills for SIS&DT

Members of the Steering Committee are responsible for:

  • monitoring of the work and reviews of reports developed by PwC
  • meetings in Brussels with EASME and the European Commission to review progress and discuss the preparation of periodic reports, which should be approved by the Steering Committee
  • participating in teleconferences
  • providing advice and guidance during the work

 organizes workshop

"Pitching (presentation) for start-ups for investors and clients"

Date: 29.10.2019 at 3 pm.
Place: NordicHouse, św. Anny 5, Krakow

The project is organized with the support of the Marshal's Office. 

The theme of the third workshop is "Pitching (presentation) of the start-up to investors and clients". Each start-up has its own story and your task is to tell it. You will learn the art of pitching during our next workshop. The mentor will not only provide potential entrepreneurs with various technical skills, but also strengthen their entrepreneurial mindset.

The mentor during the workshop will be Christo Balinow, InnoEnergy's Business Development Director for CEE, Middle East and North America. KIC InnoEnergy is a European company dedicated to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and education in the field of sustainable energy by coordinating cooperation between scientists, enterprises and research institutes. KIC InnoEnergy provides services to accelerate the development of start-ups and risky ventures by supporting entrepreneurs and their business ideas.

Production of ethanol

Member of South Poland Cleantech cluster company ASPEN from Jarocin is planning to build a manufacturing plant for production of a dehydrated and rectified alcohol. Witaszyce near Jarocin was selected as location for the manufacturing plant.

In 1997 the Investor acquired a 49 200 m2 parcel of land adjacent to the Sugar Factory and Refinery “Witaszyce” Joint Stock Company. The choice of location was dictated by several aspects:

The alcohol production plant will have the capacity to produce 125 000 000 litres of 100% alcohol per year. The production will run 340-350 days a year which is equivalent to the production of 3676 hl/24h of 100% alcohol.

Aspen has bought a license from R. Katzen Associates International Inc. for the technology for production of dehydrated and rectified alcohol. It must be emphasised that Katzen Inc., on the basis of Output Guarantee being an enclosure A to the License Agreement concluded between Aspen and Katzen Inc., warrants the production capacity of Aspen Plant as below:

  • 125,000,000 litres per year of dehydrated alcohol
    incl.-   20,000,000 litres per year of rectified alcohol

The plant will produce raw alcohol (92% concentration, equivalent to 3676 hl/24h of 100% alcohol), which will be converted to:

  • dehydrated alcohol at 105 000 000 litres per year,
  • rectified alcohol at -(20 000 000 litres per year.

The Katzen Technology of alcohol production uses maize and rye as raw materials.
