On May 26, 2026, South Poland Cleantech Cluster, presented Interreg Central Europe project CURIOST. The conference was organized by South Poland Cleantech Cluster – partner in the CURIOST project, the Association of Municipalities and Districts of the Małopolska Region, and the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Tadeusz Kościuszko Cracow University of Technology. The conference was entitled “Thermal Modernization and Renovation of Buildings – Latest Market Trends – Challenges of Thermal Modernization and Renovation Processes in Light of New National Legislation Coming into Force.”

At the beginning of the conference, Janusz Kahl, CEO in SPCleantech introduced the Interreg Central Europe project CURIOST.

CURIOST is an Interreg Central Europe project, focusing on promoting circular economy practices among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and small mid-caps in Central Europe’s manufacturing sectors. The project targets four key industries: mechanics and mechatronics, packaging, plastics, and construction and building. ​ Objectives: – Enable Sustainable Product Development: Assist SMEs and small mid-caps in developing innovative, sustainable products by adopting circular economy principles. ​ – Foster Transnational Collaboration: Encourage cooperation among 11 partners from seven Central European countries – Austria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Slovakia – to share expertise in product development, business innovation, circular economy, and environmental topics. ​ – Develop Strategic Frameworks: Create comprehensive strategies and action plans to support the uptake of sustainable product development solutions by SMEs and small mid-caps in the targeted sectors. ​ By focusing on these objectives, CURIOST aims to drive the green transition in Central Europe’s manufacturing industry, promoting environmental sustainability while unlocking new business opportunities for SMEs.

Later on during the conference, speakers presented significant legislative changes proposed by the European Commission and their impact on the process of improving the energy efficiency of buildings through thermal modernization and renovation in Poland. In particular, planned changes to the Building Law, new energy classes, and the new technical conditions WT2026, which are scheduled to enter into force on September 20, 2026, were presented.

The latest initiative of SPCleantech, was also presented. It is OSS krk HubRenowacji, Poland’s first stationary, Comprehensive Investor Support Point for thermal modernization and renovation of buildings. Its goal is to simplify and accelerate the thermal modernization process for building owners, both individual and those in communities, housing cooperatives, municipalities, counties, and businesses.

Members of the OSS krk HubRenowacji presented the latest technologies and interesting projects and investments related to thermal modernization of buildings.
