Carbon Footprint Challenge hackathon in Krakow

On April 27, 2024, SPCleantech participated in the next edition of the Carbon Footprint Challenge hackathon organized in the Hubraum space in Krakow by a cluster member, the Kraków City of Start-ups foundation. The president of SPCleantech, Janusz Kahl, participated once again as a juror in this year’s hackathon.

Carbon Footprint Challenge is a 12-hour hackathon aimed mainly at students. During the event, participants, working in teams, use their skills to develop innovative solutions that respond to current challenges in the area of ecology or civic participation.

Carbon Footprint Challenge is a 12-hour business marathon, during which teams of 3-5 people, with the support of mentors, fight for the best possible preparation of their project in response to one of 5 challenges.

Project evaluation criteria:

  • innovativeness (no similar projects in the city or region),
  • logicality (relationship between diagnosis, goal and final result),
  • feasibility (availability, indication of the possibility of access to resources),
  • social profit (project effect and its impact on society, inclusion in particular categories),
  • project presentation (readability of the project presentation).

What awaited the event participants?

  • Designing innovative ecological solutions
  • Training in business modeling and pitching, i.e. the art of public speaking
  • Individual care from mentors with many years of business and managerial experience
  • Project presentations before a jury of experts
  • A chance to win financial prizes and support for the best teams

Requirements:

  • Participants had to register as teams of 3-5 people
  • Even before the hackathon, the team should have thought about an idea for solving the selected challenge
  • Participation in the hackathon was free, but registration was required!
  • The number of places is limited – the order of applications counts.

    MAIN PRIZES:

1st place: PLN 2,500
2nd place: PLN 1,500
3rd place: PLN 1,000
