Conference on circular product design

SPCleantech, together with its partners – the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAiH), the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Municipality of Kraków, and the Zabłocie 20.22 Cluster – is organizing a conference titled:

Designing Circular Economy-Ready Products: A Key to Export Success for SMEs

October 14, 2026 (Wednesday), Zabłocie 20.22 Cluster, Room 007
Zabłocie 20, Kraków
09:00 AM – 1:00 PM

During the conference, we will present the results of the three-year Interreg Central Europe project “CURIOST“, which aimed to support SMEs in transitioning to fully integrate into the circular economy. Companies wishing to export today must design their products differently than in the past. Customers across Europe and the globe expect products that are durable, easy to repair, and made from reusable materials. This is not merely a trend; it is a hard market requirement.

Furthermore, new EU regulations are coming into force—such as the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) – which require manufacturers to demonstrate that their products are designed sustainably. This entails meeting requirements regarding durability, repairability, ease of disassembly, and recycled material content, as well as preparing a “Digital Product Passport (DPP)”, which will be mandatory for many product categories entering the EU market. In this passport, manufacturers will be required to disclose details such as material composition, production process information, repair instructions, environmental footprint (PEF) data, and the potential for component reuse. Companies that fail to meet these requirements will be unable to enter the supply chains of large enterprises or sell in many European markets.

As part of the project, we have developed a handbook for entrepreneurs – the “Methodology Kit” – which outlines practical models and pathways for implementing circular economy practices and preparing products for new regulations. We would like to present this resource to a wider audience of companies. Additionally, we will showcase solutions from two companies based in Małopolska and two consortium partners from other countries as examples of best practices in implementing the circular economy and preparing products for upcoming EU requirements.

Conference participants will also learn about the support mechanisms available from business support organizations. Networking and the informal exchange of contacts and experiences over refreshments will provide added value.
